Warm chocolate sauce

Prepare this warm chocolate sauce using the traditional double boiler or the microwave oven. This second method is great when one needs to create a special dessert in minutes.

Ingredients

4 ounces chocolate (baking or cooking chocolate, broken into pieces, about 4 squares)
1 tablespoon sugar
4 tablespoons cream (heavy cream, doubl cream)
1⁄2 cup water (or as needed)

Instructions

  1. Place chocolate, sugar and water in a saucepan or the top pan of a double boiler. Heat slowly, stirring often, until the sugar dissolves and the chocolate melts.
  2. Remove from the heat, add cream and vanilla essence. Keep warm.

Microwave

  1. Place sugar, water and chocolate in a recipient, cover and heat on medium for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  2. Add cream and vanilla essence. Leave to stand for 2 minutes.

4 servings
Preparation time 5 minutes

Times for the microwave are approximate as every appliance has different power settings. Experiment and adjust the time and setting.
