Soybean harvesting
Description
The image shows a field of soybeans that are ready to be harvested. The pods are hanging from the plants. The soybeans are ready to be harvested when the pods turn from green to brown or black. The pods will dry out and the beans will become hard and brittle. At that point, it's time to harvest them.
The harvesting process begins with farmers driving their tractors through the fields, knocking the soybean pods off of the plants. Then, a combine harvester goes through the field and separates the beans from the pods. The beans are then cleaned and bagged for sale.
Soybeans are a major crop in Illinois.
